Called to Be Perfect

Today there was story in the news about Retta  Baptist Church from Burleson, Texas near Fort Worth.  They made a movie called “My Son” which will be coming out in a theater in Burleson on September 20th. The film has been rated ‘R” by the MPAA. The film obviously has a Christian message, but the MPAA states that they gave it a rating of ‘R” for drug use and violence.   Pastor Chuck Kitchens believes it is biased due to the message of the presentation of the Gospel.  If it  has been rated R for the faith content of the movie…what happened to In God We Trust? How is it possible that movies like World War Z ( about zombie-like viruses and heavy on violence)  and countless other movies with violence, language, sex,  drug use…have been rated PG 13, but because of the faith content this is rated R? I have to ask, is the message of “Love one another” so dangerous?
Matthew 5:43-48
“You have heard the law that says,” Love your neighbor and hate your enemy. But I say , love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For He gives His sunlight to both the evil & the good, and He sends the rain on the just & the unjust alike. If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that? …if you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even pagans do that. BUT YOU ARE CALLED TO BE PERFECT, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.”
We are called to be perfect, so we pray for those that seek to silence the voice of those who wish to spread the Good News . We love them and continue to speak of love to them. The movies can be rated whatever the world wishes to rate them, but we press forward and we keep on keepin’ on fighting the ‘good fight of faith’. Let us not grow weary of doing good….

God bless you and God have mercy on us,

Katie
